For a year now, LA has offered its guests a new attraction, or at least those staying at the Thompson Beverly Hills hotel: a roof terrace with a unique 6x11-metre pool.

The edge of the pool is set with green and white tiles, each with 131 STRASS® crystals, creating an eye-catching interplay of light, water and crystal. One challenge that the designers faced was protecting the crystals from the chlorine in the water and other pollutants. To resolve this they fixed the crystals to an adhesive surface behind glass.

The idea for the design of the pool was a result of close, creative cooperation between the Thompson Beverly Hills hotel, Swarovski and British trend magazine TANK.

As the hotel offers one of the most beautiful 360°-views of the Los Angeles skyline, a Swarovski Optik telescope covered in CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements was also installed for visitors.
