The chair (2005) similar to origami, has been created by folding flat boards inwards and outwards. In other words, they fulfill the necessary function of a chair according to the geometric principles of origami. There are physical limitations to the dregee of folding: 15 mm to 18mm thick boards can be used for the body of the chairs. However, by facing this limitation, Saeko Kasamatsu seeks to create a harmonious blend of the basic function of a chair as a place to sit on and the formative beauty innate in Origami. The structure of every folded plane is centralized upon one point due to the geometric principle of Origami. They are composed so that every plane, ridge and structure is gathered into or spreads from the center point. The most important thing about this type of design (creation) is the harmony and the balance between function and art. The designer is always concious about the boundaries between the fields of design and art, and contemplate on how far they can extend over each other to emphasize a certain aesthetic principle they have in common. It is essential to me that the aesthetics of my creation have an originality and a sense of value that is both worldwide and universal.
