UFA Palace, Dresden

The construction from 1997 is an extension of eight auditoria with a total of 2,700 seats to the existing UFA round cinema.

Crystal Cinema
Crystal Cinema

The neo-Expressionist construction, reminiscent of the architectural ideas of Bruno Taut stands in crass opposition to the surrounding concrete slab building of the GDR period. The entrance and foyer area gives access to the individual cinemas over angular stairways and walkways and is oriented around the round cinema. The crystalline structure is produced by glass surfaces supported by a steel skeleton construction. A closed waling towards St. Petersburger Strasse screens the building and creates tension to the transparent side of the building.
